Description
The Gaze is a small outdoor wall light with a white resin lantern body, clear methacrylate glazing and a single E27 bulb holder rated to IP55. The lantern measures 220mm tall with a 350mm projection from the wall, giving it the proportions of a traditional half-lantern but built from high-performance resin rather than metal or aluminium.
Designed for porches, front doors, side entrances and garden walls, the Gaze suits locations where a traditional lantern appearance is needed but metal corrosion is a concern — coastal properties, swimming pool areas, humid climates and any exterior where salt spray or sustained moisture would degrade painted aluminium or steel. The resin body is UV-treated during manufacturing to resist colour fade and thermal shock, so the white finish stays consistent under direct sunlight and temperature swings between winter and summer.
The methacrylate diffuser protects the bulb from rain ingress while transmitting light evenly through all four glazing panels. The IP55 rating means the fitting is protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction and against dust ingress sufficient to interfere with operation, making it suitable for exposed wall positions without requiring additional shelter. The fitting accepts any E27 LED, halogen or filament bulb up to the maximum wattage stated in the specification table (bulb sold separately), and dimmer compatibility depends on the bulb type chosen.
The traditional lantern profile — curved top finial, flared canopy, panelled body — pairs with both period and contemporary exteriors where a recognisable heritage form is needed rather than a modern cube or cylinder. The compact 220mm height suits smaller wall areas where a full-size coach lantern would dominate, and the white finish coordinates with UPVC fascias, rendered walls and painted timber frames without requiring a metal finish match.

Frequently Asked
What does IP55 mean?
IP55 indicates protection against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction. The fitting can be installed in fully exposed positions without shelter and will withstand rain, snow and coastal spray without allowing moisture into the electrical components.
Is the white finish resistant to yellowing?
Yes. The resin is UV-treated during manufacture to resist colour fade and yellowing from sunlight exposure. Methacrylate glazing also resists yellowing better than polycarbonate or acrylic alternatives.
What bulb is recommended?
The fitting takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb. Most users fit a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K for a soft amber glow. Filament-style LED bulbs work well if you want the traditional lantern aesthetic with visible lamp detail through the clear panels.
How does resin compare to aluminium for outdoor lights?
Resin does not corrode, rust or require repainting. Aluminium and steel lanterns eventually corrode in coastal or humid environments despite powder coating. Resin maintains its finish without maintenance but lacks the weight and metallic appearance of cast aluminium.
