Gaze Small Outdoor Wall Light - Black

The Gaze is a small outdoor wall light with a traditional lantern profile, cast in black UV-treated resin with clear methacrylate glazing and a single E27 bulb fitting. The resin body carries an IP55 rating, protecting the internal wiring and lampholder against low-pressure water jets and dust ingress, making it suitable for sheltered and semi-exposed outdoor positions.

Designed for porch entrances, side doors, garden walls and patio areas where a compact wall-mounted light source is needed, the Gaze mounts on a flat wall via a rear fixing plate and projects 350mm from the wall when fitted. The 220mm height keeps the light in proportion to domestic doorways and gate posts. The single E27 bulb (sold separately) sits behind a methacrylate diffuser that distributes light downwards and sideways, illuminating the area immediately below and to the sides of the fitting.

The resin construction resists corrosion in coastal and damp climates and is lighter than die-cast aluminium equivalents, reducing the load on masonry fixings. The UV treatment applied to the resin slows colour fade under direct sunlight, while the methacrylate diffuser includes anti-yellowing additives to maintain clarity over time. The black finish pairs with both traditional brick and render exteriors and modern dark-framed windows and doors.

What does the IP55 rating mean?

IP55 means the fitting is protected against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction. This makes it suitable for sheltered outdoor positions such as covered porches, under eaves, or on walls protected by overhangs. It is not designed for fully exposed positions where heavy rain or direct water pressure occurs regularly.

What bulb does it take?

The Gaze takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for porch and entrance lighting.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, the fitting itself is compatible with dimming when paired with a dimmable E27 bulb and an appropriate outdoor-rated dimmer switch. Check that both the bulb and dimmer are rated for outdoor use if wiring into a dimmed circuit.

How is it mounted?

The light mounts via a rear fixing plate with two screw points. The fixing plate attaches to a flat masonry or timber wall, and the main body of the light clips or screws onto this plate once the electrical connection is made. Standard exterior cable entry is through the rear of the plate.
