Description

A slim upright in satin black, standing 140cm tall and reading as a quiet vertical line rather than a broad silhouette. A single G9 capsule does the work at the top, and a toggle switch on the fitting saves reaching across the room for a wall switch. Dimming is possible where a compatible capsule and a separate dimmer are used, though neither comes with the lamp.

We reach for one of these where a corner needs light but not bulk: beside an armchair, at the end of a sofa, next to a low chest in a bedroom, or in a small study where a desk lamp would eat into working space. The narrow footprint suits flats, hallway corners and rented rooms where furniture moves about. With a 10W ceiling on the capsule the output stays modest, so we would treat it as company for a larger fitting rather than the only light in a big sitting room. It is a floor lamp for dry rooms indoors, on a normal domestic plug.

The satin surface is low in shine, which keeps dust and fingermarks less obvious than a polished black would. It is double insulated, so no earth connection is called for. For cleaning, switch off at the socket, let the capsule cool, then run a dry duster down the stem and around the base; sprays and cream cleaners dull a satin finish, so leave them under the sink. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same floor lamp in satin nickel, antique brass and gold, and there are matching table lamps in the same finishes if you want them working together in one room.
