Description

The Freida is a 35cm wall lampshade in cream organza with vertical pleats held by internal wire ribs, lined with strands of circular crystal beads and hexagonal drops that hang behind the fabric. The organza exterior diffuses light from a wall light fitting (sold separately) into soft ambient illumination, while the crystal strands reflect fragments of that light back through the fabric, adding depth and movement when the lamp is on.

Designed as a replacement shade for wall lights in living rooms, hallways, bedrooms and dining rooms, the Freida fits standard BC (B22) or ES (E27) wall light bulb holders with a maximum 40W rating. The 35cm width suits wall positions above sideboards, either side of a fireplace, or in pairs flanking a bed headboard in rooms with traditional, classical or transitional interior schemes. The 20cm projection from the wall allows the shade to sit comfortably clear of the wall surface without overwhelming narrow hallways.

The vertical pleating on the organza is held by fine brass-coloured wire ribs running top to bottom, giving the shade a structured barrel shape that holds its form when fitted. The cream tone carries a warm yellow-beige undertone that complements brass, antique brass, gold and warm wood finishes common in traditional interiors. The crystal strands inside are visible as a subtle shimmer through the fabric during daylight and become more prominent when the light is switched on, without the full exposure of an open crystal chandelier.

The Freida is a replacement shade for wall lights with BC (B22 bayonet) or ES (E27 screw) bulb holders. It sits over the existing bulb and holder, secured by the shade carrier ring on your wall light. The fitting itself is not included — this is the shade only.

What bulb wattage can it handle?

The shade is rated for a maximum 40W bulb. Most users fit a 6-10W warm-white LED bulb (equivalent to a 40-60W incandescent) to provide enough light without heat buildup inside the fabric.

Can the crystal strands be seen through the fabric?

The crystal beads and hexagonal drops are visible as a subtle shimmer through the cream organza during daylight. When the light is switched on, they reflect the bulb light and become more prominent, adding depth and sparkle without the full exposure of an uncovered crystal fitting.

How is the organza cleaned?

Dust the pleated organza with a soft, dry brush or a low-power vacuum with a brush attachment. For more stubborn marks, spot-clean gently with a barely-damp microfibre cloth and distilled water, avoiding soaking the fabric. Do not machine-wash or submerge the shade.
