Description
Frammenta stacks seven slabs of natural Spanish alabaster into a staggered column on a rectangular brass backplate, each left with its broken edge intact and each fixed through its own small brass boss. The stones are 130mm deep and the column stands 460mm tall. The pieces step slightly left and right as they climb rather than sitting on a common centre, so the silhouette wanders the way a split face of rock does.
An integrated LED behind each stone gives 28W in total, lighting them from the back so every fragment glows and each overlap throws a shadow across the one beneath it. Seven stones in the same 460mm height as the five means more overlap and a denser column, which reads as a continuous band of stone from across a room rather than as separate pieces. The light stays soft because it passes through the stone rather than out of an aperture, and the denser stack gives more shadow lines, so the column reads as banded rather than smooth.
The bosses and the backplate are brass, and they are the only metal on show. Every fragment is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining, the translucency and the shape of the broken edge differ from piece to piece and the seven stones on one fitting will not match each other. It has no stated IP rating, so it is for dry rooms only. Frammenta runs from a single fragment up to nine, and the five fragment version shares this height with a more open stack.

Frequently Asked
Why is the edge of the stone rough?
That is deliberate. The perimeter is the natural broken edge of the alabaster block rather than a cut or polished line, which is what gives the range its name. It means the outline differs on every fragment.
How does it differ from the five fragment version?
Both stand 460mm tall. This one packs seven stones into that height, so there is more overlap and it reads as a denser, more continuous band of stone. It draws 28W against 24W.
Does every fitting look the same?
No. Each fragment is natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining, the translucency and the shape of the broken edge are unique to the block it came from. The seven stones on one fitting will not match each other either.
How is it fixed to the wall?
The stones mount onto a rectangular brass backplate, each through a single small brass boss at its centre. The plate takes the fixings and the supply comes in behind it.
Can it be used in a bathroom?
No. It has no stated IP rating, so it is for dry rooms only.
