Description

The Fralvessa is a single pendant light with a slim black steel body and a cylinder shade of smoked glass. The ceiling rose, cord and lampholder are all black, and the glass is a black-transparent tone that reads as a soft smoky grey, so the bulb stays just visible through it. It measures 110cm overall, from the ceiling rose to the bottom of the shade, and the shade is 15cm in diameter. It takes an E27 bulb of up to 40W, which is not included, so you can choose the bulb that suits the room. It is rated IP20, and that settles where it belongs: indoors, in a dry room.

That 15cm shade is slim enough to hang in a group over a long dining table, and on its own it brings the light down close to the table, where a smoked glass shade gives a bare bulb a warmer, lower glow for an evening meal. It sits just as comfortably in a hallway, beside the bed in place of a bedside lamp, or above a favourite reading chair in the living room. The black and smoky grey palette works with dark wood, concrete tones and pale walls alike, so it suits a modern or industrial-leaning scheme without any fuss.

The body is black steel and the shade is vaporised glass, open at the base so light falls straight down as well as glowing through the sides. There is no switch on the light itself: it is switched at the wall, from the light switch you already use. It runs on 220-240V mains at 50/60Hz and is a wired-in fitting, so a qualified electrician should install it, and the installation instructions come as a download. Packed, it weighs 1.138KG. Keep to a bulb of 40W or less, and a warm white filament bulb will make the most of the smoked glass.
