Description

The Fralbena is an outdoor wall light with a built-in motion sensor, finished in anthracite. A tapered anthracite head sits forward of a slim rectangular backplate, and the light falls from its open base through a white plastic shade, casting a soft glow down across the wall. It measures 24cm in height and 14cm in length, and stands 18.5cm out from the wall. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 10W, which is not included, so you choose the colour of light yourself. With an IP44 rating it is protected from splashing water, which means it can live outdoors on a house wall.

Because the sensor brings the light on whenever it detects movement, the Fralbena suits a front door, a side passage, a back step or a garage wall: anywhere you want light the moment someone arrives and darkness the rest of the time. Coming home after dark, you are not fumbling for your keys, and visitors find the path without a porch light burning all evening. The anthracite finish sits quietly against render, brick or painted walls, and the tapered head gives a clean, modern outline that suits newer homes and older ones alike. Fitted either side of a doorway, a pair frames the entrance neatly.

The body is zinc-plated steel, and zinc plating helps steel resist rust, which matters on a wall that takes the rain all year. The motion sensor is set into the lower part of the backplate, beneath the shade, where it stays neat and out of the way. It runs from a 220-240V mains supply, so it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions are available as a download. When you choose a bulb, keep to an E27 cap of no more than 10W; a warm white bulb gives a softer, more welcoming light by the front door.
