The Forest Festivities cushion is a 50 x 50cm square with a soft velvet face carrying a printed winter woodland scene. Snow-dusted pines and bare branches sit against a pale sage ground, with small animals threading through the trees and a scattering of festive touches among the boughs. The velvet takes a print well, holding the fine detail of the branches and the animals rather than blurring it, and the pile gives the colours a gentle depth as the light moves across the face.

A cushion this size is the workable one for a sofa or an armchair: big enough to lean on, not so big it swamps a two-seater. The seasonal scene makes it a cushion for the colder months, at home on a bench, a reading chair or a made bed through winter, and it sits happily beside plain cream, sage or warm-neutral cushions that let the print do the talking. The border and the whole reverse are faux fur, so it reads as a texture piece as much as a print, which is worth knowing if you are layering it with flat-woven throws.
