The Foligno LED floor lamp pairs two lights on one slim black steel stem: a dark grey fabric drum shade at the top and a flexible LED reading arm set partway along the stem. It stands 180cm tall, 34.5cm long and 26.5cm wide, on a flat rectangular base. The shade takes an E27 bulb of up to 40W, which is not included, so you choose the bulb and the warmth of the main light yourself. The reading arm has its own built-in LED at 3000K, a warm white. The IP rating is IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in a dry room.

Set it beside an armchair, a sofa or a bed and the two lights do different jobs. The shade gives the room a soft background glow, while the reading arm bends to aim a focused pool of light at a book, a crossword or a piece of knitting. That makes it a good choice for a reading corner in a living room, a bedroom where one person reads while the other sleeps, or a home office that needs task light beside the desk. The shade hangs from a short bracket to one side of the stem, so the lamp can stand close beside a chair with the shade reaching towards the seat.

The stem and base are steel in a black finish, and the shade is fabric. The reading arm's LED is built in and not replaceable, so there is no bulb to change there; only the shade needs an E27 bulb. A rocker switch controls the lamp. It weighs 6.84KG packed, worth knowing if you are carrying it upstairs. Steel wipes clean with a dry cloth, and fabric gathers dust, so a soft brush now and then keeps the shade fresh. The installation instructions are available as a download, so have them to hand when you unpack the lamp.
