Description

Floc is a wall mirror 105cm high by 100cm wide, cut to a soft irregular outline and printed with a splatter of red thrown across the silvered face. The marks are printed rather than painted on, so they sit under a sealed surface and cannot lift, but they carry the speed of the throw: heavy drops at the centre, fine spray at the edges.

It suits a hallway, a living room or a bathroom, where it is rated to go, and it wants a plain wall rather than a busy one, because the splatter is already the pattern in the room. It hangs in one direction, since a thrown mark has a right way up and turning it would read as a mistake. At 11.5kg and 2.5cm deep it is a one person lift that sits close to the wall, with two screws, washers and plugs supplied and nothing to assemble.

The mirror is printed and mirrored glass, frameless, with the printing on the same sheet that carries the silvering. Clean it with cleaner sprayed onto a soft cloth rather than onto the glass. The red reads warmer or cooler depending on what the mirror has to reflect, so the wall opposite matters as much as the wall it hangs on. Because the splatter is denser at the centre than at the edges, the usable reflection is round the outside rather than in the middle, which is worth knowing if you want to use it as well as look at it.
