Description

The Flerbenne is a torch-style outdoor wall light: a white plastic cylinder shade with a stainless steel cap, held out from the wall on an angled stainless steel bracket. It stands 39cm tall, measures 7.5cm in diameter and comes 16.5cm out from the wall, so it sits neatly beside a door without crowding a narrow path. It takes one E27 screw-fit bulb of up to 12W, which is not included, so you choose the bulb and its colour of light yourself. The IP55 rating settles the main question: it is protected against dust and jets of water, so it lives outdoors on a house wall in all weathers.

We would put it beside a front door, along a side passage or on a garden wall, where the white shade spreads a soft glow across the wall rather than a harsh point of light. The angled bracket tilts the shade away from the wall, which gives it the look of a modern torch. Corner mounting is possible, so it can go on the corner of a building as well as a flat wall, a real help where a porch or a garage meets the house. It suits anyone after a clean, contemporary porch light in a finish that sits easily beside modern doors, house numbers and letterboxes.

The body and bracket are stainless steel, and stainless steel resists rust, which matters on a wall that takes the rain. The shade is white plastic, and the light weighs 0.538KG packed. It runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains as a wired-in light, so it is installed by a qualified electrician. The installation instructions come as a download, so your electrician can read them ahead of the day. Buy an E27 bulb of 12W or less at the same time, and the light is ready the moment it is fitted.
