Description

The Flenvenne is a compact motion sensor in a black plastic body, with a dark lens window across the front, a swivel joint at the side and a threaded spigot for mounting. It measures 6cm long, 6.2cm wide and 4.4cm high, small enough to sit neatly on a wall without drawing the eye, and weighs just 0.04KG. It is rated IP65, which means it is sealed against dust and protected from jets of water, so it can live outdoors on a house wall or in the garden whatever the weather.

A motion sensor like this suits the places where you want lighting to respond to movement: a front door, a side passage, a driveway, a garage or a garden path. Its sensor angle is 120 degrees, so it covers a wide sweep in front of it rather than a narrow strip, which helps it pick up someone approaching from either side. The sensor light level runs from 5 to 2000 lux, so you choose how dark it must be before it responds, and lights need not come on in full daylight. For a homeowner, that means a lit path home without leaving a light burning all night.

The body is black plastic, which will not rust, a sensible material for a part that lives outdoors. The swivel joint lets you angle the lens towards the area you want covered, and small adjustment controls sit on the underside. It runs on a 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains supply and is fitted by a qualified electrician; the installation instructions come as a PDF download. Before you choose a spot, check the lens has a clear view of the area you want watched, because a hedge, a downpipe or a nearby wall can cut short its sweep.
