Description

A dining bench 180cm long, 40cm deep and 46cm high, built from reclaimed wood. The top is a single plank with its edges left slightly irregular, carried on two trestle frames set in from the ends, each a pair of square legs joined by a rail under the top and a stretcher near the floor. A long stretcher runs the length of the bench between the two frames. The wood is sanded and finished with a white wash, which evens out the tone across the different timbers while leaving the grain, the knots and the splits showing through.

The seat is 45cm from the floor and the bench is 180cm long, so it runs along one side of a dining table rather than sitting at the end of it. At 40cm deep it pushes right under a table when it is not in use, and it takes less floor than a row of chairs, which have backs to clear. Against a wall in a dining room is where a bench goes when it is not at the table, and it takes cushions along the seat.

Every piece of wood in the Fioni range is reclaimed from Indian ceiling beams, cut to size and sanded down, then finished with a white wash that unifies the look while letting the variations between wood types show. No two benches are the same: the weathered tone, the rough texture, the knots and the splits in the grain come with the material. The bench is made in this 180cm length and at 220cm, and the range also holds dining tables and a dining chair.

Frequently Asked

How long is it?

180cm long and 40cm deep.

How high is the seat?

45cm from the floor.

Is there a longer one?

Yes. The Fioni bench is also made at 220cm.

Can it go outside?

No. It is for indoor use only.

Will every bench look the same?

Not exactly. No two pieces are the same, and the weathered tone and the imperfections are part of the product. Rough textures, knots and splits in the grain come with reclaimed wood.

How do I look after it?

Wipe the surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth to remove dust and moisture, always working with the grain and taking extra care over the heavily textured areas, which may splinter. Mild soap and water can be used, but take care not to use excess water. Avoid placing wet items directly on the top, use coasters and mats, and clean up spills immediately. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
