Description

This is a 70 by 70cm cushion pad filled with duck feather and down in a cotton cambric case. The case is a plain cream with no piping and a single seam running round the edge, and the filling stands 18cm through the middle, so the pad is domed rather than flat when it is set down.

The pad is made slightly larger than a 70 by 70cm cover, which is what fills out the corners and gives a cover a plump shape instead of a flat one. Feather and down give under a shoulder and come back, so it suits a sofa or a chair that gets leaned on. At 70cm square it is a large cushion and it weighs 1.8kg, which is most of the weight of the finished cushion.

The filling is a balanced mix of duck feather and down, held in cotton cambric, a close-woven natural fabric chosen to keep the feathers in while staying soft and breathable. Each inner is made by hand in the south west of England. The same pad is made in three other sizes.
