Description
The EXIN is a recessed LED step light that sets a low, controlled wash of light at foot level. It draws 2.5W and puts out 50 lumens of fixed 3000K warm white, running directly from a 220-240V AC supply. The square 80 × 80 mm face sits flush once recessed, so the fitting reads as a clean panel rather than a protruding fixture. Across the US this style of low-level fitting is more often called a recessed stair light, though here the brightness is deliberately gentle for guidance rather than task work.
Built for outdoor steps, garden walls, porches and pathway risers, the EXIN marks the edge of a tread or the line of a path without dazzling anyone using it. Its output is modest by design, so think of it as wayfinding rather than area lighting: it grazes the surface immediately below and to the sides, picking out the step edge and the ground in front of it. Set a run of them at consistent heights along a flight or a boundary wall to trace the route clearly after dark. Because the throw is short and downward, spacing them every step or every metre or so keeps the marked line continuous.
The body is aluminium alloy in a black finish, recessed into the wall via the rear housing so only the square fascia is visible. With an IP65 rating it is sealed against dust and water jets, which makes it suitable for fully exposed outdoor positions as well as sheltered ones. The fixed warm white tone and integrated LED give a rated life of around 30,000 hours, and the fitting is not dimmable. At 130 g it is light enough for straightforward wall recessing during a build or a retrofit. The EXIN sits within our wider Exin range of low-level outdoor markers.

Frequently Asked
Is the EXIN suitable for outdoor use?
Yes. It carries an IP65 rating, which seals it against dust and water jets, so it can be fitted in fully exposed outdoor positions as well as sheltered ones such as porches and covered walkways. It suits steps, pathway walls and garden risers.
How is it installed?
The EXIN is a recessed mount fitting that sits within the wall, so it needs a recess in the masonry or surround to take the rear housing. Once fitted, only the square 80 × 80 mm black fascia is visible, sitting flush with the wall face.
Does it need a separate transformer or driver?
No. This version runs directly from a 220-240V AC mains supply, so no low-voltage transformer is required. It simply wires into the mains circuit serving the step or wall position.
How do I clean it?
Wipe the fascia with a soft damp cloth to clear dust, soil splash or rain marks, then dry it off. Avoid abrasive pads or solvents on the black finish, and there is no need to remove the fitting from its recess to keep it clear.
