Description

This is a GLS bulb, the familiar pear shape most UK ceiling pendants and table lamps were built around, fitted with a B22 bayonet cap. It draws 8.8W and gives 806 lumens, which the pack rates as the equal of a 60W conventional bulb. The light is cool white at 4,000K, a clean neutral white with no yellow in it and noticeably crisper than the 2,700K warm white many people choose for a living room. Eveready builds it as an LED, so there is no filament inside, and the pack confirms it is mercury free.

The B22 cap is the push-and-twist bayonet type, with two pins on the side of the metal cap. If the lamp you are replacing has a threaded screw cap it is an E27 and this bulb will not fit it, so check the old one before ordering. The 220 degree beam spreads light all round rather than throwing it forward, which suits open shades, rise-and-fall pendants and floor lamps. Cool white at this output earns its place in kitchens, utility rooms, garages, workshops, home offices and hallways, where seeing clearly matters more than atmosphere.

It is not dimmable, so keep it on a plain on/off switch; on a dimmer circuit it may flicker, buzz or fail early.
