Description

This is a GLS bulb with an E27 screw cap, the everyday pear shape and the larger of the two Edison screw fittings. It draws 8.8W and gives 806 lumens, and the pack rates that as the equal of a 60W conventional bulb, so it is a straight swap for the old pearl 60W in a pendant or a table lamp. The light is warm white at 3,000K. You get six bulbs, sold as five plus one, each in its own carton.

The shape matters more than it sounds. A GLS bulb sits inside a shade the way the fitting's designer expected, so a drum or coolie shade will not leave a stub of bare glass showing below the rim. Warm white at 3,000K is the friendly end of white: softer than the blue-leaning daylight lamps, a shade cleaner than a very yellow 2,700K filament, and easy to live with in a living room, a bedroom or a hallway. Six at once suits a house where several fittings are due for changing on the same afternoon, or where you would rather keep a spare in the cupboard.

Check the cap on the bulb you are taking out before you order: E27 has a screw thread roughly 27mm across and will not fit the smaller E14 or a bayonet holder. Look at the base of the bulb you are removing. E27 is a screw thread about 27mm across, sometimes marked ES. If the base has two small pins instead, the holder is bayonet and this will not fit.
