Description

This is a 4W LED filament bulb in the traditional GLS shape, the rounded pear form that has been the standard household bulb for decades. The cap is B22, the bayonet fitting with two pins that pushes in and twists a quarter turn rather than screwing. Four filament strands run the height of the clear glass, so the bulb reads as a warm line of light rather than a flat glow. It gives 470 lumens, which the pack rates against a 40W conventional bulb, while drawing 4W to do it.

Clear glass and visible filaments suit any fitting where the bulb is on show: open shades, glass pendants, and wall lights that point the lamp downward. The beam is 280 degrees, so light travels up and sideways as well as down, which is what a general room light needs rather than a directed one. At 2,700K the light is properly warm, close to the yellow-white of an old incandescent bulb, and it flatters wood, brick and warm paint colours. Inside a fully enclosed opal shade the filaments disappear and you lose the reason to choose this over a frosted bulb, so keep it where the glass shows.
