Description

The Eveready 40W oven bulb uses an incandescent filament inside a heat-resistant glass envelope rated to withstand continuous temperatures up to 300°C. The E14 small Edison screw base fits standard oven light sockets, and the golf ball shape sits within typical oven light housings without protruding into the cooking cavity.

Designed for domestic and commercial ovens, the bulb produces 300 lumens at 2800K warm white, providing enough illumination to monitor food through the oven door glass without needing to open the door and lose heat. The 40W power draw is typical for appliance lighting and runs directly from mains voltage without requiring a transformer. The bulb is non-dimmable and not designed for use in standard domestic light fittings outside of high-heat appliances.

The glass envelope and filament construction are engineered specifically for the thermal cycling of oven use — rapid heating when the oven is switched on, sustained high temperature during cooking, and cooling when the oven is turned off. Can this bulb be used in a standard lamp fitting?

No. This bulb is designed exclusively for high-heat appliances such as ovens. Using it in a standard domestic light fitting provides no advantage and wastes energy compared to an LED equivalent. The 300°C heat resistance is only relevant inside an oven cavity.

What's the expected lifespan?

Oven bulbs typically last 1,000-2,000 hours of operation, but lifespan varies depending on how often the oven is used and the intensity of thermal cycling. Frequent on-off cycles and very high temperatures can shorten bulb life.

Will this fit my oven?

Check your oven manual or existing bulb for the base type. This bulb has an E14 small Edison screw base, which is the most common size for UK ovens. If your oven uses E27 (standard Edison screw) or B15 (small bayonet), you will need a different bulb.

Why not use an LED oven bulb?

LED bulbs are extremely heat-sensitive and most LED chips fail above 80-100°C, well below oven operating temperatures. While some manufacturers produce LED oven bulbs with heat-shielding, traditional incandescent bulbs remain the most reliable option for sustained high-heat environments.
