This is a golf ball LED bulb with a B22 bayonet cap, the push and twist fitting most UK pendants and ceiling roses take. It draws 4.9W and gives 470 lumens, which the pack sets against a conventional 40W filament bulb. The light is 6,500K daylight, a clean white with no warm cast, closer to a bright overcast sky than to the yellow of an old incandescent lamp. The bulb is finished in white rather than clear, so the diodes inside read as an even glow instead of bright points through a thin shade.

How do I know whether my fitting takes a B22 cap?

Take the old bulb out and look at the base. A B22 bayonet has a smooth metal cap with two small pins on the sides, and it pushes in then twists a quarter turn to lock. If the base has a spiral thread instead, that is a screw cap and this bulb will not fit.

Is 470 lumens really as bright as the 40W bulb I am taking out?

The pack rates it as a 40W conventional replacement, and 470 lumens is the measured output. Brightness in lumens is what matters with LED, because the 4.9W figure only tells you what it costs to run rather than how much light you get.

Can I put it on a dimmer switch?

No. The specification lists it as non-dimmable, so it belongs on a normal on and off switch. On a dimming circuit a bulb that is not built for it can flicker, hum or fail to light at all.

What does 6,500K daylight look like next to a warm white bulb?

It reads as a crisp, slightly blue white with none of the yellow you get at 2700K or 3000K. It is good for seeing detail and true colours, and worth keeping consistent, because mixing 6,500K and warm white in one room looks uneven.

Will it run on normal UK mains?
