Description

A candle bulb on the small screw cap, E14, also marked SES. It draws 4.9W and puts out 470 lumens, which the pack rates as the equal of a 40W incandescent candle. The colour is daylight white at 6,500 Kelvin, the coolest of the common LED temperatures. The body is plain white rather than clear, so the lit bulb reads as one even shape rather than a cluster of bright points. One pack holds six bulbs, supplied as five plus one.

E14 is the 14mm screw thread used on chandeliers, multi arm pendants, wall brackets and smaller table lamps. If you are unsure, check the old bulb: 14mm is E14 and the wider 27mm thread is E27, and the two do not interchange. The pack prints a 240 degree beam angle, so light leaves the sides and much of the base as well as the tip, which suits open shades and upward facing fittings. Daylight at 6,500K is a crisp, blue leaning white that helps you see detail, so it earns its place in a kitchen, a utility room, a home office or a workshop. Beside warm white bulbs it will look cold, so keep one temperature per room.
