Description

This is a 250W infra red heat lamp with an E27 (ES) screw cap, in diffused hard glass. The wide reflector bowl throws its output forward rather than all round, and the diffused finish softens the glare a clear lamp would give. The pack gives 1300 lumens at 2350 Kelvin, a warm white low enough on the scale to read distinctly amber, and prints a five year lamp life. A lamp of this type is bought for the warmth it radiates as much as for the light it puts out.

E27 is the larger of the two common screw caps used in the UK, roughly 27mm across the thread, so the lamp drops into any standard ES holder. Two things are worth checking before you order. The first is that the holder and its wiring are rated to take 250W, because a great many decorative fittings stop well below that. The second is clearance: the head is far wider than a household bulb, so leave air around it rather than pushing it into a narrow shade. Because the reflector sends its output one way, mounting the holder so the lamp faces down or across the area you want warmed gets the most from it.
