B22 (BC) LED GLS Bulb 14W 1521lm Non-Dimmable - Cool White 4000K

This is the classic pear shaped GLS bulb, the household shape most people picture when they think of a light bulb, with LED inside and a B22 bayonet cap. It draws 14W and gives 1,521 lumens, which the pack rates as the same light as a 100W conventional bulb, making it one of the brighter LED replacements in this shape. The colour is 4,000K cool white, a clean neutral light rather than a yellow one, and the opal white glass hides the diodes so the output spreads evenly.

A B22 cap is the two pin bayonet: push it in, give it a quarter turn and it locks. Check the old bulb before you order, because the other common household cap is E27, a screw thread of roughly the same size, and the two will not swap. Cool white at 4,000K suits rooms where the job is seeing clearly rather than winding down, so it earns its place in kitchens, utility rooms, garages, workshops, home offices, hallways and on landings. Will this fit a standard bayonet lampholder?

Yes, provided the holder is a B22 bayonet, the two pin type you push in and turn a quarter turn to lock. If the old bulb had a screw thread instead, that is an E27 cap and this bulb will not fit it.

Is it really as bright as an old 100W bulb?

The pack rates its 1,521 lumens as the equivalent of a 100W conventional bulb. Lumens rather than watts is the number to compare when you are replacing an older lamp, since LED draws far less power for the same light.

Can I put it on a dimmer switch?

No. It is specified as non dimmable, so it needs a plain on/off switch. A non dimmable LED on a dimmer circuit can flicker, hum or fail early, so choose a dimmable lamp for that circuit.

What does 4,000K cool white actually look like?

It is a clean neutral white. Next to the 2,700K to 3,000K warm white used in most living rooms it looks crisper and slightly brighter, without the blue cast you get from 6,500K daylight lamps.

How long should it last?

Does it work on normal UK mains?

Yes. It runs on 220 to 240V at 50/60Hz, which covers UK mains, and all the electronics sit inside the bulb, so no separate driver or control gear is needed.
