Description
The Essence is a slim floor lamp that runs from floor to ceiling as a single tensioned line, its opal column of light held on a black cable between a ceiling cap and a small floor base. A satin opal diffuser wraps the square body so the built-in LED reads as a soft glowing bar rather than a bright point, standing 1605mm tall on a 90mm footprint. Lit, it draws a quiet vertical stroke of light in a corner; off, the black cap and base recede into the wall behind, leaving the glow to do the work.
The light is warm and even at 3000K, putting out 2400 lumens along the opal body for a gentle ambient glow rather than a directed beam. The square profile gives the upright a sharper, more architectural edge than the round version, and because the column sits proud of the wall the light spreads softly to either side. That suits it to a corner, the side of a sofa or the end of a hallway where a slender line of light is wanted rather than a lamp on a table.
The ceiling cap, body and floor base are plated or powder-coated metal in black, with a satin opal PVC diffuser and a black PVC supporting cable. It is powered from the base by a cable with a plug, and the LED is integrated and included, rated for 50,000 hours, so there is no bulb to buy. It is supplied as a standard on/off fitting and carries an IP20 rating for dry indoor rooms.

Frequently Asked
What kind of light does the Essence give?
A soft, even glow at 3000K warm white. The satin opal column spreads the built-in LED along its length, so it reads as a slim glowing bar and washes light gently to either side rather than casting a directed beam. It is an ambient light, not a reading spot.
How does it stand up?
It is a floor-to-ceiling lamp. A black cable runs from a ceiling cap down to a small floor base and holds the opal column under tension, and it is powered from the base by a cable with a plug. It needs both a floor spot and the ceiling above it.
What is the difference between the square and round versions?
Only the profile of the column. This is the square-bodied version, which reads as a crisper, more architectural line; the round one has a rounded cross-section. The light, height and output are the same at 24W and 2400 lumens.
How big is it and where does it suit?
The column stands 1605mm tall on a 90mm footprint. That slim, upright shape suits a corner, the side of a sofa or the end of a hallway, in the black finish with a square body.
