Description

A small square face in white, set flush with the ceiling, with a four channel infrared receiver behind it. It picks up the signal from a handheld remote and switches each channel on its own, so lamps, a run of downlights and a wall light can be worked separately from a single handset. The visible frame is plain and shallow, with no bezel detail to draw attention, and the whole unit weighs next to nothing. From below it reads as one more downlight in the line rather than a piece of control gear, which is much of its appeal.

We suggest it for rooms that have gathered more circuits than the switch plate by the door can carry: sitting rooms, snugs, home cinemas and main bedrooms, where getting up to change the lighting is the last thing anyone wants. Between them the channels take up to 6000W, which covers the lighting load of a generous room with room to spare. Keep it to dry indoor spaces; we would not put it in a shower room or anywhere it meets steam.

Construction is double insulated throughout, and the white finish runs across the face so it disappears into a painted ceiling rather than sitting on it as a dark square. Looking after it takes very little: an occasional pass with a dry cloth over the face, and a check that the lens is clear of dust so the handset reads first time. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same receiver in black, and in a round version in both white and black, along with the matching handset if you need a spare.
