Description

The ESP Beacon BM2EX is a 2-line expansion card that adds two additional communication lines to an existing Beacon EVCS master station, increasing total line capacity from the base configuration up to a maximum of 8 lines. The card slots directly into the master station housing and connects via screw terminals marked for Line 0+ and Line 0-, with duplicate terminals for each of the two lines it adds.

Designed for residential and commercial intercom installations where additional door stations, sub-stations, or remote call points need to be added after the initial master station installation, the BM2EX is compatible with both the BM2 2-line master station and the BM4 4-line master station. Each expansion card occupies one of the available expansion slots inside the master station enclosure, so a BM2 can accept up to three BM2EX cards (reaching 8 lines total), while a BM4 can accept up to two BM2EX cards (also reaching 8 lines total).

The card measures 130mm x 110mm x 35mm and weighs 20g, fitting within the master station's internal depth without requiring enclosure modification. The green screw terminal blocks accept standard twisted-pair wiring used throughout the Beacon EVCS range, and the red PCB substrate includes clear terminal labelling to reduce installation errors. Once installed, the expansion lines operate identically to the master station's native lines, with no performance difference between base and expanded capacity.

Which master stations is the BM2EX compatible with?

The BM2EX expansion card is compatible with both the ESP Beacon BM2 2-line master station and the BM4 4-line master station. It is not compatible with other intercom systems outside the ESP Beacon EVCS range.

How many expansion cards can be fitted to one master station?

A BM2 master station can accept up to three BM2EX expansion cards, bringing the total line capacity to 8 lines. A BM4 master station can accept up to two BM2EX cards, also reaching a maximum of 8 lines total. The limit is determined by the number of expansion slots in the master station enclosure.

What wiring is needed to connect the expansion card?

The BM2EX uses the same twisted-pair wiring as the rest of the Beacon EVCS system. Each line requires connection to the screw terminals marked Line 0+ and Line 0-, with polarity observed. The terminals accept wire gauges typical of intercom installations.

Does adding an expansion card require reprogramming the master station?

Consult the BM2EX installation manual linked in the Downloads tab for configuration steps specific to your master station model. In most cases, the master station will auto-detect the additional lines once the card is installed and powered.
