Description
The Eremitana is a slim, box-shaped outdoor wall light in black, made from zinc-plated steel. It stands 24cm tall and 11cm wide, and comes 11cm off the wall, so it sits neatly beside a front door without crowding the frame. It takes two GU10 lamps, each rated at 2.8W and giving 250lm, and the light leaves the box from both the top and the bottom, washing the wall in two beams. It is rated IP55, which means it is protected against dust and against jets of water, so it can live permanently on an exterior wall all year round.
We think it suits front doors, porches, garden walls, side passages and the wall beside a flight of steps, where the upward and downward light marks the way after dark and puts light where feet need it. Its clean, squared-off lines sit well on a modern house front, and a pair either side of a door gives a balanced, symmetrical look. Because the beams run along the wall rather than straight outward, the glow picks out the texture of render, brick or stone and makes the house look cared for at night.
There is no switch on the light itself; it is controlled from a wall switch, so turning it on and off is as simple as any other light in the house. It is a wired-in mains light running on 220-240V, 50/60Hz, so it should be installed by a qualified electrician. The energy class is F, and it weighs 1.317KG packed. Zinc plating has long been used to help steel resist rust, and the black finish keeps a crisp outline against pale render and brick. Once the light is dark and cool, a wipe with a soft, damp cloth keeps cobwebs and grime away and the finish looking its best.

Frequently Asked
Can the Eremitana stay outdoors all year?
Yes. It is rated IP55, so it is protected against dust and jets of water and can live on an exterior wall all year round.
Which direction does the light shine?
It lights both ways at once, with light leaving the top and the bottom of the box, so it washes the wall above and below the fitting.
What bulbs does it take?
It takes two GU10 lamps, rated at 2.8W each and giving 250lm per light, which gives a gentle wash across the wall rather than a floodlight.
How big is the Eremitana wall light?
It is 24cm tall and 11cm wide, and it stands 11cm off the wall, a compact size that suits a doorway or porch.
Does it have its own switch?
No, there is no switch on the light itself. It is controlled from a wall switch, so you turn it on and off just as you would any wired light.
What material is the body?
The body is zinc-plated steel in black. Zinc plating has long been used to help steel resist rust, and a wipe with a soft, damp cloth keeps it clean.
