Description

The Erbil is a flush ceiling light that sits close to the ceiling, with a single clear ribbed glass dome set just beneath a round ceiling plate. Fine vertical ribs run all the way round the glass and catch the light from the bulb inside, giving the shade its texture and a classic, workmanlike look. It is made of brass and glass, and it comes in six finishes: Antique Brass, Antique Silver, Polished Brass, Polished Chrome, Polished Copper and Satin Brass. It is 16cm tall and 19.5cm across, a compact size that keeps it neat overhead.

Because it is only 16cm tall, it suits a hallway well, keeping good headroom where a pendant might hang too low. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only, and it is made for indoor use. With six finishes to choose from, you can match it to the door handles, switches and other metalwork around it, from the warmth of Antique Brass, Polished Brass, Satin Brass or Polished Copper to the cooler tones of Polished Chrome or Antique Silver. A longer hallway can take more than one, spaced evenly along the ceiling for a steady run of light.

Each Erbil is made to order for you in Ireland. It takes one E27 bulb, which is sold separately, at up to 40W per bulb, so you can choose the bulb you prefer within that limit. As a mains fitting, it is for a qualified electrician to install. The maker guarantees the fittings it makes for five years from the date of purchase, and bulbs are not covered by that guarantee. A practical tip: have a bulb ready before your electrician arrives, so the light can be switched on as soon as it is fitted.
