Description

This is Energizer's Vision HD torch: a metal-bodied handheld light rated at 400 lumens, with two AA alkaline cells supplied in the pack. The specification puts the colour temperature at 4,000K, a cool white that keeps detail and printed text crisp instead of pushing everything towards yellow. The pack also prints a digital focus function and seven light modes, shown as a row of icons across the front. The body in the photograph is a ridged silver metal barrel with a side push switch set just behind the head, so it can be worked one handed.

A 400 lumen handheld is a useful middle weight. It is brighter than the small keyring lights most people keep in a drawer, and it will reach across a garden, up into a loft or along an unlit path, but it is still small enough to live in a glovebox, a toolbag or a walking rucksack. The pack carries an IPX4 mark beside a water droplet icon. Metal is the point of the construction: it takes knocks better than a moulded plastic barrel and it carries heat away from the LED rather than trapping it, though it does make the torch heavier in the hand than a plastic body of the same length.
