This keychain torch puts 20 lumens of LED light on your key ring, in a body you can work with one finger. The pack calls the switching Touch Tech, and it is the whole idea of the light: press the pad on the front and the beam comes on, let go and it goes out again. There is no click switch to leave half open and no modes to cycle through, so it cannot sit on inside a coat pocket and quietly flatten its cells overnight. A metal split ring is fitted at the base, wide enough to take a house key or a car fob alongside it.

Twenty lumens is a close-work light rather than a walking light. It is the right amount for finding a keyhole in an unlit porch, reading a fuse box label in the cupboard under the stairs, checking a meter, or hunting for something dropped between the seats of a car. Because it hangs with the keys, it is there at the moment you usually want it, which a bigger torch in a kitchen drawer is not. For walking, working at distance or camping, we also stock Energizer head torches, hand torches and a camping lantern at much higher outputs.

Two CR2032 lithium coin cells are supplied with the light, as the pack states, so it works from the moment you open the card. The output is fixed: there is no dimming and no high or low setting, so you get one steady level each time you press. The manufacturer does not print a runtime figure or a colour temperature for this light, and no water resistance rating is given either. Each order is one light on its own card, with a minimum order of one, so you can buy a single one or a handful for a household of key rings.
