Description

The Energizer T8 22W 5ft LED tube is a direct replacement for traditional fluorescent tubes, delivering 2640 lumens from a G13 two-pin base. A switch on the endcap allows selection between three colour temperatures — 3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white, or 6500K daylight — set once during installation to match the room's lighting requirements.

Designed for retrofitting into existing T8 fluorescent fittings, the tube works in both switch-start and electronic ballast configurations after the ballast is bypassed and the tube is wired directly to mains. This conversion eliminates ballast failure as a source of downtime and reduces running costs from approximately 58W (fluorescent tube plus ballast losses) to 22W. Offices, workshops, warehouses, retail stockrooms and garages switching from fluorescent to LED typically see 60-65% reductions in lighting energy.

The 1500mm tube length fits standard 5ft batten fittings and provides even light distribution along the full length without the flicker or warm-up delay common to aging fluorescent tubes. Can this tube be fitted directly into an existing fluorescent fitting?

The tube requires the existing ballast to be bypassed and the tube wired directly to mains voltage. This conversion is straightforward for a qualified electrician but cannot be done as a simple bulb swap. Once converted, the fitting runs the LED tube without the ballast, eliminating ballast-related failures.

Can the colour temperature be changed after installation?

The colour temperature is set using a slide switch on the endcap. Once installed in the fitting, changing the setting requires removing the tube, adjusting the switch, and re-installing. It is not intended for frequent adjustment.

What is the rated lifespan?

Energizer rates this tube at 25,000 hours, which equates to approximately 8-10 years of typical commercial use (8-10 hours per day, 5-6 days per week).

Is this tube dimmable?

No. The tube operates at full 2640lm output when powered and does not support dimming.
