The Energizer Power Plus AA rechargeable batteries are Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) cells rated at 2000mAh capacity and 1.2V nominal voltage, supplied as a 4-pack. Each battery arrives pre-charged and ready to use straight from the pack, removing the wait for an initial charge cycle before installation. The 2000mAh capacity provides extended run times in high-drain devices compared to lower-capacity rechargeable alternatives.

Designed for devices that consume power continuously or in bursts — digital cameras, wireless gaming controllers, electric toothbrushes, children's toys, LED torches and portable radios — these batteries handle repeated charge-discharge cycles without the voltage sag that affects some rechargeable chemistries. The NiMH composition retains charge when stored, although all rechargeable batteries self-discharge over time and benefit from a top-up charge if left unused for several months.

How many times can these batteries be recharged?

Energizer rates the Power Plus range for hundreds of charge cycles. Actual cycle life depends on how deeply the batteries are discharged before recharging, the charger used, and storage conditions. Partial discharge followed by recharge typically extends overall cycle life compared to full discharge every time.

Do they arrive charged and ready to use?

Yes. The batteries are pre-charged at the factory and can be used immediately out of the pack. For best performance in high-drain devices, a full charge cycle on a compatible NiMH charger before first use is recommended but not required.

What charger do I need?

These batteries require a NiMH-compatible charger designed for AA cells. Do not use a charger intended only for NiCd (nickel-cadmium) batteries, as the charge profile differs. Energizer produces compatible chargers, and most universal rechargeable battery chargers support NiMH chemistry.

Can they replace alkaline AA batteries in any device?

Physically yes, but note that NiMH cells output 1.2V nominal compared to 1.5V for alkaline. Most devices tolerate this difference without issue, but a small number of battery-powered products designed specifically for 1.5V may not perform as expected on 1.2V rechargeable cells.
