Description
The Energizer 9W 2ft G13 LED tube is a direct replacement for traditional 18W T8 fluorescent tubes, delivering 900 lumens of 4000K cool white light from a G13 bi-pin base. The tube measures 600mm end-to-end and fits standard 2ft fluorescent fixtures without rewiring — an LED starter is included to bypass the existing ballast and connect the tube directly to mains voltage.
Designed for offices, workshops, kitchens, retail back-of-house areas and garages where task lighting and colour accuracy matter, the 4000K colour temperature renders whites and neutral tones cleanly without the warm yellow cast of 3000K or the clinical blue of 5000K-6000K tubes. The 170° beam angle distributes light evenly across worktops, shelving and desk surfaces, reducing shadows under overhead fittings.
The tube uses a full-length frosted glass body with a shatterproof coating that prevents the glass fragmenting if the tube is dropped during installation or replacement. The frosted finish diffuses the LED chip line visible in clear tubes, giving a continuous light source along the 600mm length rather than discrete hotspots. The non-dimmable design runs on standard 230V AC mains and the integrated driver handles voltage fluctuation without flicker.
Energizer rates the tube at 15,000 hours L70 lifespan, meaning the output stays above 630 lumens (70% of initial 900lm) for approximately 15,000 hours of continuous operation. At typical office usage of 10 hours per day, 5 days per week, that translates to around 6 years before replacement. The 9W draw is half the wattage of the 18W fluorescent it replaces, cutting lighting energy costs by approximately 50% where multiple tubes are in use.

Frequently Asked
Can this replace my existing fluorescent tube directly?
Yes. The tube is designed as a retrofit replacement for traditional 18W T8 fluorescent tubes. An LED starter is included — you remove the old fluorescent starter from the fixture, fit the LED starter in its place, then insert the LED tube into the G13 sockets. No rewiring of the fitting is needed.
What's the difference between 4000K and other colour temperatures?
4000K sits between warm white (3000K, which has a yellow tone) and daylight white (5000K-6000K, which has a blue tone). It renders whites and neutral colours cleanly, making it well-suited to task lighting in offices, workshops and kitchens where colour accuracy matters.
Is the tube shatterproof?
The glass body has a shatterproof coating that prevents fragmentation if the tube is dropped. This reduces the risk of glass shards if a tube is broken during handling or replacement, which is particularly useful in food prep areas, workshops and retail stockrooms.
How long does the tube last?
Energizer rates the tube at 15,000 hours L70 lifespan, meaning it maintains at least 70% of its initial 900 lumens for 15,000 hours. At 10 hours per day usage, that equates to approximately 4 years of continuous operation before replacement is needed.
