This is an LED candle bulb with an E14 small screw cap, the narrow threaded fitting used on chandeliers, wall lights and smaller table lamps. It draws 8.5W and gives 806 lumens, a bright output for a candle shape and enough to light a room from a multi arm fitting rather than simply decorate it. The light is 6500K daylight, the coolest and cleanest of the white tones, crisp and slightly blue rather than the yellow of an old filament lamp. The opal white body spreads the light from the diodes so you see an even glow instead of bright points.

Daylight at this brightness suits rooms where you need to see clearly: a kitchen, a home office, a utility room, a hallway or a workroom where colours have to be judged accurately. It is a common choice for shops and rental properties too. In a sitting room or bedroom it will read as stark beside warm white lamps, so if a fitting holds several bulbs, change them all together rather than mixing tones in one shade. Before you order, check the old bulb for the smaller E14 thread rather than an E27 or a bayonet cap. This one is not dimmable, so put it on a plain on and off switch; on a dimmer circuit it can flicker, buzz or fail early. The beam spreads 240 degrees, close to all round, which matters in an open lantern where the bulb is seen from every side. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry indoor use only, and the energy label puts it at class E, 8kWh per 1000 hours. Each unit is a single bulb and the minimum order is 12, sold in multiples of 12.

How do I know my light takes an E14 cap?

E14 is the smaller of the two screw threads, roughly 14mm across. Unscrew the old bulb and compare it: the larger 27mm thread is E27, and push and twist caps are bayonet, neither of which will fit here.

What does 6500K daylight actually look like in the room?

It is a cool, white, slightly blue light with no yellow in it, the sort used for close work and colour matching. Beside a 2700K warm white bulb the difference is obvious, so keep one tone per room.

Which old filament bulb does 8.5W replace?

The manufacturer does not state an equivalent wattage for this one, so compare on lumens instead: 806 lumens is the brightness figure to match against whatever you are taking out.

Can I put it on a dimmer switch?

No. It is non dimmable, so it needs a standard on and off switch. Fitted to a dimmer it may flicker, hum at low settings, or shorten its own working life.

Will it light evenly in an open chandelier or lantern?

Yes. The beam spreads 240 degrees, so light carries out sideways and well back past the cap rather than firing only forwards, which suits fittings seen from all angles.

Can I use it in a porch or an unheated outbuilding?

Only in a dry, sheltered enclosed fitting. The IP20 rating gives no protection against water, so it must not be exposed to rain, spray or damp conditions.
