E27 (ES) LED Filament GLS Bulb 7W 806lm - Warm White 2700K

This is a 7W LED filament bulb with an E27 screw cap in the familiar GLS shape, the rounded pear outline that has been the standard household bulb shape for decades. It gives 806lm at 2,700K, a warm white close to the colour of old incandescent light rather than the bluer white of many early LEDs. The pack rates it as a replacement for a 60W bulb, so the brightness should feel familiar when you swap one out. The beam spreads across 320 degrees, which is very close to all round, and the energy label puts it in class E, rated at 7kWh per 1,000 hours.

E27 is the larger of the two screw caps in common UK use, often written ES. It is worth checking the old bulb first: the E27 thread measures about 27mm across, while the E14 small screw cap is noticeably narrower. The wide spread suits pendants, table lamps, floor lamps and any fitting where the bulb sits inside a shade or a globe rather than pointing one way. An LED filament bulb carries its light along slender rods rather than from a single dome, so it also works well in open fittings and cage pendants where the bulb itself is on show.

This one is not dimmable. Fitted to a dimmer circuit, a non-dimmable LED will usually flicker, buzz or refuse to strike at the low end, so keep it on a plain on/off switch; if you want dimming, choose a lamp sold as dimmable instead. The pack prints a 15 year lifespan and 15,000 hours of running. Each unit is one bulb, and the minimum order is 12, sold in multiples of 12, which suits a household changing over several fittings at once or a landlord keeping spares. Will this be as bright as the 60W bulb I am replacing?

The pack rates it as a 60W replacement, and 806lm is the output most people associate with an old 60W household bulb, so a like for like swap should look familiar.

Can I put it on a dimmer switch?

No. It is non-dimmable, and a non-dimmable LED on a dimmer circuit tends to flicker, hum or fail to light at low settings. Use it with a standard on/off switch.

How do I know my fitting takes E27?

E27 is the large screw cap, roughly 27mm across the threaded metal base. If the old bulb pushes and twists rather than screwing in, it is a bayonet cap and this will not fit.

What does 2,700K actually look like?

It is a soft yellow white, the tone of traditional filament lighting. It flatters warm colours, wood and brick, and suits living rooms and bedrooms better than a cooler 4000K light.

Does a 320 degree beam matter inside a shade?

Yes. A near all round spread fills a fabric or glass shade evenly rather than throwing one bright pool downwards, so pendants and table lamps light the room more evenly.

Why is the minimum order 12?

These are supplied in trade multiples, so the smallest purchase is 12 bulbs and further orders go up in twelves. You still receive one individually boxed bulb per unit.
