B22 (BC) LED Candle Bulb 7.3W 806lm - Warm White 2700K

An LED candle bulb on a B22 bayonet cap, the push and twist fitting found on most UK pendants, wall lights and older table lamps. If the bulb you are replacing has two small pins on the sides of a smooth metal base rather than a screw thread, B22 is the cap you want. This one draws 7.3W and gives 806 lumens, which the retail pack rates as a 60W replacement, so it sits at the brighter end of the candle shape rather than being a low output decorative lamp. The frosted white body spreads the light softly rather than showing a hard bright point.

Candle bulbs suit fittings where the lamp is partly on show: multi arm ceiling fittings, chandeliers, wall brackets and narrow shades that a rounded GLS bulb would fill awkwardly. At 806 lumens one of these is bright enough to light a hallway, a landing or a small bedroom on its own, and three or five together will cover a dining room. The 2,700K colour temperature is the warm, faintly yellow light people associate with old filament bulbs; it flatters paint, timber and fabric in the evening, where a cooler white can look clinical.

Dimming is the first thing to check: this lamp is non-dimmable, and the pack says so. On a dimmer circuit it may flicker, buzz or fail early, so keep it on a plain on/off switch. It runs from ordinary 220 to 240V mains with no driver or transformer. How do I know my light fitting takes a B22 cap?

B22 is the larger bayonet cap: a smooth metal base with two small pins on the sides that you push in and twist a quarter turn to lock. If the old bulb has a screw thread instead, it is an E27 and this will not fit.

Can I use it on a dimmer switch?

No. The pack marks it as non dimmable, so on a dimmer circuit it can flicker, buzz or fail early. Put it on a standard on/off switch, or choose one of the dimmable candle bulbs in our range instead.

How bright is 806 lumens in practice?

The pack rates it as a 60W replacement, so expect roughly the output of a traditional 60W candle bulb while drawing only 7.3W. That is bright for a candle shape, so it works as a main light rather than only as decoration.

What does 2,700K warm white actually look like?

It is the soft, slightly yellow light of an old filament bulb. It reads as relaxed and evening friendly, and it keeps creams, browns and timber looking warm rather than grey, unlike a 4000K or 6500K lamp.

How long does the manufacturer say it will last?

The retail pack prints a 15,000 hour lifespan, described there as 15 years. At three hours a day that works out at well over a decade of normal household use.

Does it throw light upwards as well as downwards?

Yes. The beam angle is 240 degrees, so light spreads out to the sides and back up past the cap. That suits open shades, chandeliers and upward facing wall brackets.
