B15 (SBC) LED Bulb 7.3W 806lm Non-Dimmable - Warm White 2700K

This is an LED candle bulb on a B15 cap, the small bayonet fitting usually written as SBC. It draws 7.3W and puts out 806 lumens, which the pack sets against a 60W filament bulb, making it one of the brighter candle lamps available on this cap. The body is opal rather than clear, so the light leaves the bulb diffused and the diodes inside do not read as bright points through the envelope. Colour temperature is 2700K warm white and the energy rating is E.

Small bayonet is the cap on a great many older British fittings: chandeliers, candelabra pendants, wall lights and the table lamps that came with them. It is worth checking the old bulb before you order, because B15 and the E14 small screw cap look similar at a glance. B15 has a smooth metal barrel with two small pins on the sides, and it pushes in and turns a quarter to lock; E14 has a thread and screws home. At 806 lumens this is bright for a candle, so it suits a multi-arm fitting you want to light a whole room from, or a single lamp doing real work in a corner.

How do I know my fitting takes B15 rather than E14?

Pull the old bulb and look at the base. B15 is a smooth metal barrel about 15mm across with two small pins on opposite sides, and it pushes in then twists a quarter turn. E14 has a spiral thread and screws in, so the two are not interchangeable.

Will it be as bright as the 60W bulb I am replacing?

The pack rates it as a 60W replacement and it gives 806 lumens, which is the usual output of a 60W filament lamp. For most rooms that is a like for like swap, on a fraction of the power.

Can I put it on a dimmer switch?

No. Both the specification and the pack state non dimmable, so on a dimmed circuit you risk flicker, buzzing and a shortened life. If you need dimming, choose the dimmable 7.3W 806lm B15 candle from the same range instead.

What does 2700K warm white actually look like?

It is the soft yellow-toned white people associate with old filament bulbs, comfortable in living rooms and bedrooms. Cooler options around 4000K look crisper and whiter, which suits kitchens and workrooms better.

Is an IP rating given for this bulb?

The specification does not carry one and none is printed on the pack, so we state no IP rating. Treat it as an unrated lamp for ordinary dry indoor fittings.
