Energizer LED GLS Bulb E27 7.3W Opal Non-Dimmable - Daylight 6500K

This is a 7.3W LED GLS bulb on an E27 screw cap, the familiar pear shape that has been the standard household bulb for decades. It gives 806 lumens, and the Energizer pack puts it forward as a 60W replacement, so it is the direct swap for an old 60W incandescent or a tired energy saver. The light is 6500K daylight, a crisp blue leaning white rather than the yellow of a traditional filament. The glass is finished in a soft opal white, which spreads the output evenly and stops the diodes reading as bright points through a thin shade.

6500K suits the places where you want to see clearly rather than settle in. Kitchens, utility rooms, garages, workshops, hobby rooms and home offices are its natural homes, along with a pendant over a worktop or a desk lamp used for close work. The 240 degree beam angle is wide for a bulb of this kind, throwing light out to the sides and behind the cap as well as forward, so it fills an upturned shade or a glass pendant and still behaves well where the bulb sits horizontally. For a sitting room or a bedroom a warm white version will feel more comfortable, so keep this one for the working parts of the house.

Can I put it on a dimmer switch?

No. The specification states it is not dimmable and the pack carries a non dimmable mark, so it should be wired to an ordinary on/off switch or a smart plug rather than a dimmer module.

Will it light a whole room from a central pendant?

The 240 degree beam angle sends light sideways and upward as well as down, so a single bulb in a central fitting will cover a small to average room. In a larger or longer space, two fittings will give you a more even spread than one.
