Description

This is a 5W LED filament bulb with an E27 screw cap, built in the ST64 teardrop shape that gives it its name: broad at the shoulder, tapering down to the cap. The glass carries a gold tint, and slim filament strands run up through the centre so the bulb has something to look at when it is lit and when it is off. It puts out 550lm at 2200K, a deep amber warm white that sits well below the 2700K of a standard warm white lamp. The pack rates it as a replacement for a 40W incandescent.

Amber filament bulbs are meant to be seen, so the fittings that suit this one best leave the glass exposed: a pendant on a plain flex, an open cage shade, a wall bracket that points the lamp outwards, or a table lamp under an open-topped shade. The 320 degree beam angle means light leaves almost the whole surface rather than firing one way, so a single bulb fills a hallway, a snug or the space over a kitchen island with a low, mellow glow.
