E14 (SES) LED Golf Bulb 5W 550lm Dimmable - Warm White 2700K

This is a golf ball bulb: the small round shape that sits in chandeliers, wall lights and table lamps where a full sized bulb would look heavy. It takes an E14 small Edison screw cap, the narrow threaded cap you twist into the holder, and the glass is clear so the LED filaments inside are on show. It draws 5W and gives 550 lumens of warm white light at 2700K, with an energy rating of E. It is dimmable, which is not a given on filament style LED bulbs.

550 lumens is at the brighter end for a golf bulb, so one on its own will light a bedside table or a hallway wall light properly rather than merely glowing. In a multi arm chandelier or a cluster pendant the output adds up quickly, and that is where the dimming earns its keep. Clear glass throws visible sparkle through cut glass, crystal drops and open shades, so it suits fittings that leave the bulb exposed. If your shade is open at the top and the bulb is seen from above, the filament pattern is part of the look.

Dimming needs an LED compatible dimmer, ideally a trailing edge type. At 5W a single bulb sits below the minimum load of many older dimmers, so check the dimmer's rating, or run several bulbs on the same circuit, if you see flicker or a short travel at the bottom of the dial. The pack prints a 15 year lifespan, quoted as 15,000 hours, and rates the bulb as a replacement for a 40W filament lamp. Each box holds one bulb, and our minimum order is 12. Will this fit my chandelier or wall light?

It has an E14 cap, the small screw fitting often marked SES. Take the old bulb out and look at the thread: an E14 thread is about 14mm across, noticeably narrower than the common E27.

How bright is 550 lumens in practice?

The pack rates it as a 40W replacement, so it suits the sort of fitting that used to take a 40W candle or golf bulb. It is bright enough to work alone in a bedside or wall light.

What does warm white 2700K look like in a room?

2700K is the soft yellow white of a traditional filament lamp, easy in living rooms and bedrooms. If you want a crisper, whiter light for a kitchen or desk, choose a 4000K bulb instead.

Does it really dim?

Yes, the specification confirms it is dimmable, but it needs an LED compatible dimmer, ideally trailing edge. One 5W bulb may fall under an older dimmer's minimum load, which shows up as flicker or a short dimming range.

Is an IP rating given for this bulb?

Neither the specification nor the pack states an IP rating for this bulb, so we do not publish a figure here. Treat it as a standard indoor mains bulb.
