This is a candle shaped LED bulb with a B22 bayonet cap, the push and twist fitting used on most British ceiling roses and lamp holders. It draws 4.9W and gives 470 lumens, which the retail pack puts at the equivalent of a 40W incandescent candle. The colour temperature is 3000K warm white, a soft yellow-leaning light rather than the crisp blue-white of a daylight lamp. The finish is opal white rather than clear, so the light spreads evenly across the bulb instead of showing a hard bright point.

Candle bulbs earn their keep where the lamp itself is on show or only half hidden: multi-arm chandeliers over a dining table, paired wall lights either side of a fireplace, small pendant shades on a landing, and bedside lamps with narrow clip-on shades. Before ordering, check the cap on the old bulb. B22 has two pins on a smooth metal skirt and locks home with a quarter turn, so the smaller B15 bayonet and the E14 screw cap will not sit in the same holder. The 240 degree beam angle sends light sideways and a little backwards as well as forward, which suits a shade that relies on the whole bulb glowing.

It is not dimmable, so keep it on a plain on/off switch; on a dimmer circuit an LED built without dimming control can flicker, buzz or fail early. Will this fit my existing bayonet light fitting?

It fits a B22 bayonet holder, the standard British cap with two pins on the metal skirt that pushes in and locks with a quarter turn. The narrower B15 bayonet and screw caps such as E14 and E27 will not take it.

How bright is 470 lumens in practice?

It is a mid-range candle output, and the pack states it as a 40W replacement. In a three or five arm chandelier the combined output is generally plenty for a dining table or a hallway.

Can I put it on a dimmer switch?

No. The specification records this bulb as non-dimmable, so it should run from an ordinary on/off switch. On a dimmer circuit it may flicker, hum or shorten its own life.

What does 3000K warm white actually look like?

It is a soft, slightly golden white, close to the tone people remember from older filament lamps. It flatters warm paint colours, timber and brass far better than a 4000K or 6500K lamp.
