The Energizer 4.2W LED GLS bulb is a B22 bayonet-cap replacement for traditional 40W incandescent bulbs, producing 470 lumens at 2700K warm white. The GLS (General Lighting Service) shape matches the classic pear-shaped silhouette of traditional bulbs, making it a direct retrofit for table lamps, ceiling pendants, wall lights and bedside fittings without changing the aesthetic of the fixture.

Designed for general residential and commercial lighting, the bulb operates on 230V mains and consumes 4.2W compared to the 40W of the incandescent it replaces. The 2700K colour temperature produces a warm yellowish-white light similar to traditional tungsten bulbs, suited to living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and hospitality spaces where ambient warmth is preferred over cooler task-oriented light. The 240-degree beam angle spreads light evenly across a room rather than concentrating it in a narrow spot.

The bulb carries an E energy rating under current UK labelling and is rated for a 15-year average lifespan based on 2.7 hours of daily use. The non-dimmable LED driver inside means the bulb should not be paired with dimmer switches — doing so will cause flickering or early failure. The frosted polycarbonate diffuser softens the LED chips inside and reduces glare when viewed directly. Can this bulb be used with a dimmer switch?
