E27 (ES) LED Bulb 4.2W 470lm Non-Dimmable - Warm White 2700K

This is a candle bulb with an E27 screw cap, drawing 4.2W and giving 470 lumens of warm white light. The candle form is the tapered, pointed shape used in chandeliers, wall brackets and smaller table lamps, and the body is opal white rather than clear, so the diodes inside are hidden and the light reads as an even glow rather than bright points. E27 is the larger of the two common screw caps, about 27mm across the thread; if the old bulb measures nearer 14mm it is an E14 and this one will not fit.

At 470 lumens it stands in for a 40W incandescent candle, and the pack prints that same 40W replacement figure. That suits a pair of wall lights either side of a bed, a small hallway fitting, or a chandelier where five or six bulbs share the work. The 240 degree beam angle means light leaves in almost every direction rather than firing forward, which is what you want inside a fabric shade or on an open chandelier arm seen from below. At 2700K the light is warm and yellow-leaning, close to an old filament bulb, and it sits well with wood, brick and warm paint.

It is not dimmable: the specification says no and the pack carries the non dimmable mark, so run it from an ordinary switch rather than a dimmer, where a non dimmable lamp can flicker or buzz. The energy rating is E, the IP rating is IP20 for ordinary indoor use, and the pack prints a 15,000 hour lifespan and a 15 year figure alongside it. Will this fit my chandelier or wall light?

It takes an E27 screw cap, the larger of the two screw sizes at roughly 27mm across the thread. Plenty of candle fittings use the smaller E14 instead, so check the old bulb before ordering.

How bright is 470 lumens in practice?
