This is a G9 capsule bulb, the small two-pin lamp that pushes into its holder rather than screwing or twisting in. It draws 4.2W and gives 470 lumens, which the pack puts at the same light as a 40W halogen capsule. The colour temperature is 6500K, a crisp blue-white rather than the yellow of a filament. The LED chips sit inside a clear housing above the familiar looped G9 pins, so it goes into the same holder the old halogen came out of. Each box holds two bulbs.

G9 holders turn up in mains voltage fittings all over the house: multi-arm pendants with small shades, wall lights, cooker hoods, under-cupboard strips and reading lamps. It carries an E energy rating, and the pack prints a 15 year lifespan and 15,000 hours. Check the old capsule before you order, because G4 and G9 look alike at a glance: G4 has thin straight pins around 4mm apart, while G9 has flattened looped pins around 9mm apart, and the two are not interchangeable.
