Energizer Capsule G9 4.2W Clear Non-Dimmable - Daylight 6500K

This is a G9 capsule LED rated at 4.2 watts, giving 470 lumens at a colour temperature of 6,500K. That is the daylight end of the white scale: a crisp, faintly blue-white light rather than the yellow glow of the halogen capsules G9 fittings were originally built for. The body is clear, so the individual diodes stay visible through the glass and the light throws in almost every direction, with a beam angle of 300 degrees. The two looped pins are the standard G9 fit, pushed straight into the holder rather than twisted.

G9 capsules turn up in more places than most caps: multi-arm wall lights, small pendants and chandeliers with exposed candle sleeves, cooker hoods, plinth and cabinet lights, and reading lights beside a bed. Yes, the cap is the same two looped pins that push into a G9 holder. Check the space inside the shade, as an LED capsule can sit slightly longer than a small halogen one.

Can I put this on a dimmer switch?

No. The specification lists it as non-dimmable, so it needs a plain on and off switch. On a dimmer circuit you may see flicker, buzzing or a shortened life.

What does 6,500K daylight look like once it is in the room?

It reads as a clean, slightly blue-tinged white, close to the light from an overcast sky. Good for seeing detail and true colour, cooler than the warm white most living rooms use.
