Description

The Energizer LED Golf Ball is a 4.2W dimmable bulb with a B22 bayonet cap, outputting 470 lumens at 2700K warm white. The compact golf ball form factor fits standard table lamps, wall lights and smaller ceiling fittings where a full-size GLS bulb would be too large. The 4.2W draw replaces a traditional 40W incandescent bulb, cutting energy use by approximately 90% while delivering the same light level.

Designed for residential lighting where dimming control is needed, the bulb works with most trailing-edge and leading-edge dimmer switches fitted in UK homes. The 2700K colour temperature produces a warm, slightly amber-toned white light that suits living rooms, bedrooms, dining areas and hallway table lamps where a relaxed, domestic atmosphere is preferred over cooler task lighting. The golf ball shape also fits decorative fittings such as chandeliers and wall sconces where the bulb is visible.

Energizer rates this bulb at a 15-year lifespan under typical domestic use (approximately 15,000 hours), which reduces replacement frequency compared to halogen or incandescent equivalents. The bulb carries an Energy Rating of E under the revised 2021 EU energy label scale, reflecting the efficiency gains of LED technology over older lamp types. The frosted finish on the glass diffuses the LED chip inside, preventing visible point-source glare when the bulb is exposed in open fittings.

Frequently Asked

Is this bulb compatible with dimmer switches?

Yes. The Energizer LED Golf Ball is dimmable and works with most trailing-edge and leading-edge dimmer switches commonly fitted in UK homes. If you experience flickering or reduced dimming range, check that your dimmer is rated for LED loads — older dimmers designed for incandescent bulbs may need replacing with LED-compatible models.

What's the difference between a golf ball and a standard GLS bulb?

A golf ball bulb is smaller and rounder than a standard GLS (General Lighting Service) bulb. Golf balls typically measure 45mm diameter compared to 60mm for a GLS, making them suitable for compact table lamps, wall lights and decorative fittings where space is limited or the bulb is visible.

What does the 2700K colour temperature mean?

2700K is warm white — a slightly amber-toned white light similar to traditional incandescent bulbs. It's warmer and less clinical than daylight (5000K-6500K) or cool white (4000K), making it well-suited to living rooms, bedrooms and other relaxed domestic spaces.

How long does the bulb last?

Energizer rates this bulb at 15 years under typical domestic use, which equates to approximately 15,000 hours of operation. Actual lifespan depends on usage patterns, ambient temperature and how frequently the bulb is switched on and off.
