Energizer LED GLS E27 3.8W Filament Non-Dimmable - Warm White 2700K

This is a general service LED bulb with an E27 screw cap, the large screw fitting sometimes marked ES on a lampholder or on the bulb you are replacing. It draws 3.8W and gives 806 lumens at 2700K, a warm white, and the pack puts it in place of a 60W incandescent bulb. The glass is clear, so the LED filaments sit in plain view inside the familiar GLS pear shape rather than behind a diffusing coating. Energizer prints energy class A on the label supplied with it.

A clear filament bulb earns its keep where the bulb itself is seen. Open pendants, glass shades, caged fittings, wall brackets and table lamps with a bare shade all show the filament pattern, and at 2700K the light carries the yellow warmth people associate with old tungsten bulbs rather than the whiter cast of an office. 806 lumens is about the output of a traditional 60W bulb, which makes it a sensible single-bulb choice for a bedroom, a hallway or a small sitting room, and a good fit for multi-lamp pendants where you want several softer points of light instead of one bright one.

This bulb does not dim. Both the specification and the icon on the pack say so, and on a dimmer circuit a non-dimmable LED will usually flicker, buzz or refuse to strike at low settings, so pair it with a plain switch. Running cost is modest: the energy label quotes 4kWh per 1000 hours of use. The pack also prints a 50 year lifespan claim. How do I know my light fitting takes an E27 cap?

E27 is the larger of the two common screw caps, so the thread is noticeably wider than the small E14 used in many chandeliers and fridge lamps. Unscrew the old bulb and compare the thread before ordering.

Can I put this bulb on a dimmer switch?

No. The specification and the icon on the pack both say non-dimmable, so keep it on a plain on and off switch. On a dimmer it may buzz, flicker or fail to light at low settings.

Will it really replace a 60W bulb?

The pack states a 60W replacement, and 806 lumens is the output an old 60W household bulb typically gave, so a single bulb in a shade should read as the same brightness.

What does 2700K warm white actually look like?

It is a soft yellow white, close to old tungsten lighting and kinder to skin tones and warm paint colours than the neutral 4000K or blue tinged 6500K versions of the same bulb.

Is an IP rating given for this bulb?

The manufacturer does not state an IP rating for it, so we quote none. Treat it as a bulb for ordinary indoor lampholders in normal dry rooms.
