GU10 LED Bulb 3.6W 345lm Dimmable - Cool White 4000K, 4 Pack

This is a GU10 LED spotlight bulb rated at 3.6W and giving 345 lumens, supplied as a box of four. The two-pin twist-and-lock GU10 cap is the standard fitting on recessed ceiling downlights and track spots in most UK homes, so it goes straight into the holder a halogen spot came out of. The light is 4000K cool white, a clean neutral between the yellow of a halogen and the blue-white of daylight, thrown in a 36 degree cone the pack calls narrow.

Cool white at this beam angle works best where you want light landing on a surface rather than washing a whole room. Kitchens are the obvious home for it: a row over a worktop or an island gives well defined pools of light to chop and read under. Utility rooms, garages and home offices suit it for the same reason, and on track spots it picks out a bookcase or a run of shelving without spilling much onto the wall around it. These dim, and the thing worth checking first is the dimmer: four of them together draw under 15W, so they need a switch made for low LED loads rather than an old halogen rotary. The pack states a 15,000 hour life and puts that at 15 years, and the energy label rates the lamp class E at 4 kWh per 1000 hours. One box holds four bulbs and the minimum order is 12 boxes, so 48 lamps is the smallest quantity, enough for a whole ceiling of downlights with spares left over. IP20 is an indoor, dry location rating, so keep these to internal fittings.

Will this fit the downlights I already have?

If the old lamp has two small pins that push in and twist a quarter turn to lock, it is a GU10 and this one will fit the same holder.

How bright is 345 lumens next to the halogen spot it replaces?

The pack marks it as a 50W halogen replacement, so you should get a similar level of light on the worktop from 3.6W of power rather than 50W.

What does 4000K cool white actually look like?

It is a neutral white with no yellow cast and no blue tint, which reads as crisp and clean over worktops, tiles, white paint and work surfaces.

Can I use these on a dimmer switch?

Yes, the specification confirms they are dimmable. Fit a dimmer rated for LED loads, because four lamps together total only 14.4W and older halogen dimmers need a far higher minimum load.

How wide is the light from a 36 degree beam?

It is a fairly tight cone that lights a defined circle below the fitting rather than the whole room, so closer spacing between fittings gives more even coverage.

How many bulbs do I actually receive?
