Description
This is a GU10 spotlight bulb running on 2.4W of LED power and giving 230 lumens at 3,000K, a warm white close to the tone of an old halogen spot. The pack puts it forward as a 35W replacement, which is the useful number if you are swapping out the halogens that came with a kitchen or hallway track: the fitting stays, the cap stays, and the pull on the circuit drops to a fraction of what it was. The beam is quoted at 36 degrees, so the light lands as a defined pool rather than washing the whole ceiling. The twist-and-lock GU10 cap is the two-pin type found in most UK downlights and spot bars.
Warm white at 3,000K suits rooms where you want the light to feel settled rather than clinical: over a worktop, in a hallway, above a mantel or picking out shelving and pictures. At 230 lumens a single bulb is modest, so it works best where several sit in a row and share the job, or where you want one accent rather than general brightness. If you are mixing it with bulbs already in the ceiling, check their Kelvin figure first; 3,000K next to a 4,000K cool white will read as noticeably yellower, and the mismatch is more obvious in a line of spots than anywhere else.
This bulb is not dimmable, so it should go on a plain on and off switch; fitted to a dimmer it may flicker, buzz or fail early. It carries an IP20 rating and an energy rating of E. The pack prints a 15 year lifespan, based on 15,000 hours. Each box holds one bulb, and the minimum order is 12, sold in multiples of 12, which suits kitting out a whole ceiling in one go. It sits alongside a 3.6W GU10 in the same warm white 3,000K if you need more output from the same fitting.

Frequently Asked
Will this replace the halogen spotlights already in my ceiling?
If the existing bulbs are GU10, yes. The GU10 cap pushes in and twists a quarter turn to lock, so the holder you already have is reused as it is.
Can I put it on a dimmer switch?
No. The specification gives it as non dimmable, so fit it to a standard on and off switch. On a dimmer it may flicker, buzz or fail early.
How bright is 230 lumens in a real room?
Modest for a single spot. It reads as a soft pool of light, so plan on several across a ceiling rather than one bulb lighting a whole room on its own.
What does 3,000K warm white actually look like?
A soft yellow white, close to the tone of old halogen. It is warmer than the 4,000K cool white often used in utility spaces and easier to sit with in the evening.
Does a GU10 need a transformer or driver?
No. GU10 is a mains voltage cap that runs straight off 240V, unlike the low voltage MR16 pin type, which needs a transformer sitting behind the fitting.
How long does the manufacturer say it lasts?
The pack prints a 15 year lifespan based on 15,000 hours of use, which works out at roughly three hours a day over that period.
