E14 (SES) LED Candle Bulb 2.2W 250lm - Warm White 2700K

A candle-shaped LED bulb with a small screw E14 cap, also written SES, drawing 2.2W and giving 250 lumens. The pack states a 25W replacement, so it stands in for a small incandescent candle bulb of that rating on a fraction of the power. The light is warm white at 2700K, the yellow-leaning tone people associate with older filament bulbs, and the frosted white body spreads it so the diodes do not read as bright points through a thin shade. Output carries across a 280 degree beam, near enough all round, which is what a candle bulb needs sitting tip up in a chandelier or tip down in a wall bracket.

E14 is the smaller of the two common screw caps, around 14mm across the thread. If the old bulb looks narrow beside a standard household lamp it is almost certainly E14 rather than E27, and the two do not interchange, so check before ordering. At 250 lumens these suit fittings where several bulbs share the work: a five-arm chandelier, bedside lamps, a hallway pendant, or a small shade on a side table. Candle bulbs are also the usual pick where the bulb is partly on show. The IP20 rating keeps it to dry indoor fittings.

It is not dimmable, so run it from a plain on/off switch; on a dimmer circuit a non dimmable lamp can flicker or hum. The energy rating is E. The pack prints a 15 year lifespan and 15,000 hours, which on a landing light used a few hours a night is many years between changes. Each unit is a box of one bulb, and the minimum order is 12, sold in multiples of 12, so one order fits a chandelier and leaves spares in the drawer. How do I know my fitting takes E14 and not E27?

E14 threads measure about 14mm across, noticeably narrower than the 27mm E27 cap used on most standard household bulbs. Compare the old bulb's thread before ordering, as the two caps do not interchange.

Is 250 lumens bright enough for a room?

On its own it gives a soft, low output suited to a bedside lamp or a small shade. In a multi-arm chandelier or wall bracket the bulbs add up, so five of them give a usable 1,250 lumens.

Can I put this on a dimmer switch?

No. It is not dimmable, so use a standard on/off switch. Running a non dimmable LED from a dimmer circuit can cause flicker, buzzing or early failure of the lamp.

What does 2700K warm white actually look like?

It is the warm, slightly yellow light of an old filament bulb, easy on the eye in living rooms, bedrooms and hallways. Cooler 4000K and 6500K lamps look much whiter and more clinical by comparison.

How many bulbs do I receive, and how long should one last?
